Do you want to be an entrepreneur, and/or do you have an innovative idea involving robot tech? Then StartUp Walk-In is the event for you.
Join us on 23 November at StartUp Walk-In and get advice on how to tackle all the practicalities that come when starting a robotics company, absorb the instructive experiences of others and meet the event speaker: Christian Bering CEO of Holo.
Meet Christian Bering and Holo
Holo is an implementation company for autonomous software, owned by Denmark’s largest car importer, Semler Group. The company was established in 2016 when the hype around autonomous vehicles had great momentum.
The initial plan behind the inception of Holo was to bring autonomous minibuses, also called shuttles, onto roads across Scandinavia. However, the technology was not yet ready to meet Holo’s ambitions at that time, and the strategy had to be put on hold while the technology evolved.
Today, Holo is working towards the same goal: fully autonomous vehicles on the ground and autonomous drones in the sky. Holo hopes to achieve the breakthrough for ground vehicles by the end of 2025 when they are able to make vehicles completely driverless, similar to for example Waymo, Google’s project in the USA.
Recently, Holo launched an extensive project in Norway – and their collaboration with a new supplier is focused on introducing autonomous passenger vehicles on roads. The user will simply be able to tap their phone and a vehicle will arrive to transport them from point A to point B.
Dependent on tech advancements
Holos’ narrative is one that follows a timeless pattern of technological advancement. Within the automation industry, some projects have been scaled prematurely under the assumption that the objective could be reached in the near future. However, it turned out certain procedures required more time than initially anticipated.
According to CEO Christian Bering, one of his learnings is if one oversells and underdelivers, one loses trust, which they then have to later rebuild – and this is just one of his experiences he will share at StartUp Walk-In. Here he will also talk about the journey to where Holo is today and what he believes is important in a startup company.
