Inter Urban vehicles
This collaborative project looks closer at a simpler subset of self-driving cars for passenger transport, namely the so-called driverless inter-urban vehicles (IVUs).
Background
Inter-urban vehicles (IUVs) do not necessarily have to drive in normal traffic in densely populated areas, but it can be used in more controlled environments such as a golf course, in a parking lot, or on a campus. This collaborative project looks at a simpler subset of self-driving cars for passenger transport. Here, various test systems of sensors and control systems will be looked at, which will be demonstrated on Aalborg University's IVU platform in selected scenarios.
Purpose / Vision
The overall purpose of the project is to show that Denmark has technology, knowledge and companies that together are able to address the challenges such as a later full introduction of driverless cars entails. Especially cognition and interaction components linked together through robust security systems are strong key challenges that will enable Danish innovation in the field.
Expected results
The project will focus on establishing collaboration with companies. These collaborations must help
- to have a requirements specification prepared for one or two specific test cases for IUVs
- to be equipped with various test systems of sensors and control systems
- to demonstrate them on AAU's IVU platform in the selected scenarios
